Privacy Policy for CinePair

CinePair (“we”, “us”, “the app”) helps you and a partner keep movie watchlists and decide what to watch together. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights. We aim to collect as little as possible.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect: real name, location, contacts, photos, payment card numbers, advertising identifiers, or device tracking data.

2. How we use your information

We use your data only to operate the app: authenticate you, store your lists, sync with your partner, and generate recommendations. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising or profiling beyond in-app movie suggestions.

3. Third-party services

Supabase (database & authentication) — stores your account and app data securely. See supabase.com/privacy.
The Movie Database (TMDB) — we request movie information and images. Your searches are sent to TMDB to return results. We do not send TMDB your identity. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. See themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.
Apple (App Store) — handles app distribution. See apple.com/legal/privacy.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers and protected with Row Level Security, so only you (and a partner you explicitly connect with) can access your lists. All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed and salted by Supabase Auth and are never visible to us.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, watchlist, swipes, and partner connections. You may also email us to request deletion.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, use in-app deletion or contact us.

7. Children

CinePair is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted in-app or via the app listing, with an updated “Last updated” date.
